H/b; d/w; vg/vg- 1st ed. Book has small faults eg occasional foxing; ; no inscriptions or name inside; d/w is price clipped; the story is set in 1204 Constantionople. It was a great & confused Metropolis standing at the cross roads between East & West. Within its walls were Greeks, Bulgars, Turks, Armeinians, Italians, Franks & norsemen and every opportunity for trairoes & spies to carry on their dark deeds. There were also members of the Military order of Templars who only obeyed the Pope; there were assassins who took the drug Hashish before they committed political murders. Also there was an offshoot cult of Mohammedanism, that began in Persia, and had spread through the Middle East. This book tells the the story of a half-Greek, half-Norse brother and sister set against the background of the troubled world of the time. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall
