Mr. Puckle's Hat, Shur, Irene G
1 Shur, Irene G Mr. Puckle's Hat
US Horace F Temple 1962 First US Edition; First Printing Hardcover Very Good in Very Good- dust jacket Illustrated by Carolyn G Simmendinger Signed by Author
8vo hbk in d/w; 1st US edition; stated 1st printing; Vg/Vg-; signed by the author on fep, as is the case with many copies of this book; signature has become quite faint with age, but is still quite able to be read; an interesting book, primarily aimed at older children, but interesting for adults too - a combination of American history and imagination. The story is told in the narrative of Nathaniel Puckle's Hat, a Quaker Hat, which was 'Born' in England in 1662 and travels to America. The reader accompanies him, greets the early settlers in Philadelphia and meets the LeniLenape Indians who live in the Delaware Valley. Then we further accompany the hat whilst fighting the Battle of the Brandywine with Washington, Wayne and LaFayette, and then campaigning with Lincoln and foxhunting with Buffalo Bill. The Hat lives for over 250 years and is filled with a multitude of adventures, and brings history to life. Vg/Vg-; ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; Signed by Author
