Elsie Jeanette Oxenham

When people find an author they enjoy, they then often wish to read more books by that author – especially if the book they have read is part of a series.

Therefore, for your information, I have put together lists of books in their appropriate series, by author.  However as this is quite a long job, I will do an author at a time, and add to the list as and when I can, so if you look at the pages regularly, you should find regular changes and additions. Also, if you have extra knowledge about series that I can add to the pages, please let me know so I can add it.  I can’t guarantee being 100% correct with this information – in part because I get a bit goggle eyed with lots of similar titles – so if I have made errors, please don’t hesitate to let me know and I will correct them!  Also if you are a regular customer who has their own interest in a children’s author, and who wants to make a suitable contribution to these pages, just let me know and we arrange for your information to be added.

Elsie Oxenham

Elsie Oxenham is an author best known for her 38 book series of books based around the AbbeySchool for Girls, Wycombe, based on Cleeve abbey in Somerset. Actually Elsie Oxenham was a pseudonym that Elsie took when her first book Goblin Island was published in 1907.  Elsie’s birth name was Elsie Jeanette Dunkerley, but she took her pseudonym from her father the novelist John Oxenham.  She wrote many more books than her Abbey Series, some 87 in her life time, and another 2 have been published posthumously.  Some of her books fall into more than 1 series. Elsie Oxenham also wrote some books, that although not in the main Abbey Series, had a connection with it, and thus can be known as Abbey Connectors.
